Pudukottai ahead of other TN districts in cataract surgeries

Pudukkottai, Nov 14 (UNI)The Pudukkottai District has topped the list among all the districts in Tamil Nadu in performing cataract surgeries in the last three years, according to District Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar.

In a press release here today, she said during the current year, 3,420 men and women had undergone cataract surgery. Villagers suffering from cataract were being referred to the Government Headquarters Hospital here and intra-ocular lens were fixed to about 1,300 villagers.

Ms Thakkar said Primary Health Centres were conducting special eye screening camps in all schools. People in the district were coming forward to donate their eyes, she added.
