Srinagar, Nov 14 (UNI) Life remained crippled in the Kashmir valley today due to restrictions imposed by the authorities following ''Tourist Reception Center (TRC) chalo'' call given by the breakaway Hurriyat Conference.

The HC has appealed to the people to gather at TRC ground where its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani was scheduled to arrive from Delhi after treatment today.

Official sources said security forces have been deployed in large numbers in the Srinagar city to foil any attempt by people to assemble at TRC.

People in the down town and uptown alleged that they were not being allowed to move out of their houses by the security forces.

However, a UNI correspondent who visited a number of areas saw security forces allowing people after properly checking their identity cards.

Meanwhile, though there was no strike call shops and other business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road due to restrictions.

The educational institutions and banks also remained closed.

Work in government offices was also hit as employees stayed away mainly due to restrictions and snowfall.

The Hurriyat Conference had decided to organise public meetings to receive Mr Geelani on his return from Delhi today.

However, Mr Geelani could not come as the all incoming and outgoing flights were cancelled due to snowfall.
