Illicit liquor, chemicals, seized in village

Kolhapur, Nov 14 (UNI) Police seized huge stock of illicit liquor and chemicals from Mangaonwadi village in Hatkanangale tehsil of the district early today.

Police detained 15 people, carrying liquor, while one policeman was injured in a stone pelting incident during the raid, police sources said.

The village is a hub for illicit liquor preparation.

About 125 policemen, led by additional district superintendent of police Shahaji Umap conducted the raid when liquor purifying process was on, the sources said.

The seized materials, include chemicals, worth Rs one lakh, 1,000 litre illicit liquor, 100 barrels used for liquor preparation and low category jaggery stocks, the sources added.
