Coimbatore, Nov 14 (UNI) A call taxi driver allegedly attempted to commit suicide after killing his 23-year-old wife and 18-month-old son by a knife in a forest area at Periyanayakkan Palayam about 30 km from here last night.
Police said the driver Nandagopal(28), who used to regularly quarrel with his wife Indurani, took her and his son Tharun, in a two-wheeler by informing the neighbours that they were going to his grandmother's house at Kadichipalayam.
While going through a forest area the couple had heated arguments.
In a fit of rage, Nandagopal murdered his wife and son by slitting their throat with a knife. They died on the spot.
Later, he attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat with the same knife. People passing there informed the police, who admitted Nandagopal to the Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) hospital.
The bodies were sent to CMC hospital for post-mortam, police added.
