BMC refers Sayyed building matter to repairing board: Phatak
Mumbai, Nov 14 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has referred the matter pertaining to Sayyed building, which collapsed on Wednesday claiming six lives, to Executive Engineer of Repairing Board for examining the stability of the remaining portion of the building and take necessary precautions to its safety.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, BMC commissioner Dr Jairaj Phatak denied the reports that the building collapsed due to the redevelopment of the adjoining plot.
He said, ''there was no impact of piling work of the adjoining proposed building on Sayed building. Because a drilling machine method was used on the site, no vibrations were transferred or transmitted through the underlying soil.'' The BMC Commissioner said the piling work for the proposed building was completed on the site in September.
