TN Govt transfers CPC following students clash in Law College

Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) With the city police under fire for being ''mute spectators'' to the brutal clash between two groups of students at the Government Law College here, the Tamil Nadu Government today transferred City Police Commissioner(CPC) R Sekar.

The Government appointed Additional Director General of Police (Food Cell) K Radhakrishnan, as the new City Police Commissioner and Inspector General of Police (Vigilance and Anti-corruption) A K Viswanathan, as Additional Commissioner of Police.

The axe fell on Mr Sekar this evening, after the Government suspended an Assistant Commissioner of Police, an Inspector of Police and transferred four Sub Inspectors of Police out of the city, on charges of dereliction of duty earlier this day.

Mr Sekar, who was Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) had succeeded G Nanchil Kumaran, who retired in May this year.
