Puducherry, Nov 13 (UNI) A delegation of Tamil film personalities led by President of the Film Producers and Distributors Cooperative Society Ltd K Rajan and General Secretary of the South Indian Film Actors Association Radha Ravi today called on Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and submitted a memorandum urging to set up a film city in the Union Teritorry.
Talking to mediapersons here Mr Rajan said 25 per cent of Tamil films were being shot in Puducherry as it had natural beaches, parks, small and big rivers and salt fields. The setting up of a film city would help shooting films, day and night and it would also attract producers of other language films, he added.
With the MGR film city in Chennai being converted into an IT park and cost of production in Chennai is rising, a film city in Puducherry would help Tamil film producers shoot a film at low cost, he said adding presence of over 1,500 artistes and others in the city would help augment business.
He said the Chief Minister had assured to invite them for a discussion within a week.
The film city would be set up in Public-Private-Partnership mode, he added.
