Govt buys over 14 million tonnes of paddy

New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) Government has so far procured 14.39 million tonnes of paddy as against 12 million tonnes procured in the same period last year.

Rice procurement comes to 9.86 million tonnes this season so far as against 8.21 million tonnes in the comparable period last year, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food&Public Distribution said today.

Of the total paddy procurement so far, Punjab has contributed 11.88 million tonnes, Haryana 1.77 MT, Tamil Nadu 0.25 MT, Uttar Pradesh 0.24 MT and Chhattisgarh 0.14 MT, the Ministry added.
