'Sulu' going where no Trekkie has gone before... the jungle!

London, Nov 12 : American actor George Takei has revealed that he is joining the reality television show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.

Takei, 71, who had been part of the Star Trek cast as Mr Sulu, will be taking part in the show, which takes place in the Australian jungle, and he will come face to face with snakes, spiders and politician Robert Kilroy-Silk. The actor, who is the ITV show's oldest-ever contestant, has insisted that he will manage to get through it when the series starts on November 15.

"I'm physically fit. I used to run marathons, now I work out every day," the Sun quoted him as saying.

Added to his stamina, Takei claims that he was also ready for any gut-wrenching Bushtucker trials.

"I'm Japanese and love sushi. I've even eaten live fish. It was delicious," he said.

Takei, who recently wed partner Brad Altman, is one of three gays on the show's eighth series.

'I'm A Celebrity' kicks off on ITV1 on Sunday at 9pm.
