Security forces storm NDFB camps
Guwahati, Nov 12 (UNI) The security forces today stormed the designated camps of the NDFB in search of clues of the October 30 serial blasts as the state government announced the direct involvement of the NDFB.
Police confirmed that they had arrested NDFB's self-styled Home Secretary Sabin Boro and a Bhutanese national Tenzin G Zangpo in this connection but did not confirm whether they were arrested from inside the camp or outside.
Baska District Superintendent of Police P K Kalita informed that this afternoon they had swooped down on the NDFB's Borbari camp, where about 140 armed cadres of the militant organisation had been living inside the designated camps since the ceasefire was agreed with the government in 2005.
The Special Investigating Team(SIT), which was carrying out the blast probe, did an identification parade inside the camp as they suspected that nearly a dozen, who worked in the blasts, were taking shelter inside the camp.
The NDFB has four camps besides that of Baska. The other camps are located at Serphanguri, Udalguri and Kokrajhar. These cadres of the camp possessed sophisticated arms.
This afternoon, Assam Government spokesman Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that the NDFB was involved and the government had clinching evidence against them.
Security forces had been deployed in a large number around the NDFB's designated camp in Baksa district since last night.
Bunkers were also being constructed, and initially there was some resistance from the NDFB local commanders, but that was overcome.
Earlier yesterday, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also issued a formal statement, holding them responsible for the blasts. But both Mr Gogoi and Mr Sarma were avoiding the conspiracy angle.
The security agencies had confirmed that the conspiracy was hatched by Huji elements and used both NDFB and ULFA ground level members as logistical support providers.
But both Mr Gogoi and Dr Sharma refrained from making statement towards Huji.
