PWD staff to organise stir from Nov 18

Puducherry, Nov 12: The administrative and technical staff of Puducherry Public Works Department would organise agitations from November 18 to press their demands.

Association general secretary V Narayansamy, in a release here on Wednesday, Nov 12 said the employees from all the four regions of the Union Territory would observe a fast in front of the office of the PWD chief engineer for three days from November 18. On November 21, the employees would picket the office of the chief engineer, PWD, and go on an indefinite relay fast before the Chief Secretariate office from November 25.

Mr Narayansamy said the employees were demanding, among other things, filling up of vacant group " D " posts with NMRs appointed on compassionate grounds and provision of assured career progression scheme to those eligible.

The association was forced to revive the stir as there was no action from PWD Minister M O H F Shajahan, who had assured to fullfill their demands, he added.
