Nine killed, 15 injured as minibus plunges into Chenab in Doda

Doda, Jammu, Nov 12 (UNI) At least nine passengers were killed and 15 injured when their rashly-driven minibus plunged into the river Chenab near Prem Nagar in this mountainous district today, official sources said.

'' Besides 15 injured, nine bodies were shifted to the District Hospital, Doda,'' an official source told UNI.

Eight seriously injured were later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, the source in the hospital said.

The minibus was on its way from Thathri to Pul Doda this afternoon when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it skidded off the road and plunged into the river near Prem Nagar.

After spinning on ground, the minibus slipped into the river waters, eyewitnesses said, adding that, two passengers went missing and search was on to trace them.
