LJP workers attempt to disrupt PDP's function; 5 taken into custody

Jammu, Nov 12 (UNI) At least five activists of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) were taken into preventive custody by police while attempting to disrupt an election meeting of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) here at Gandhi Nagar office today, official sources said.

Police resorted to mild lathicharge when a group of over two dozen LJP workers attempted to disturb the PDP's meeting, which was to be addressed by party's chief ministerial candidate Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, sources said.

''Five LJP men were also taken to preventive custody by police,'' an official told UNI.

A large number of security personnel were deployed at the venue of meeting, sources added.
