Kumawat gets extension as Special Sec. (Internal Security)

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) In a bid to set at rest speculation about appointment of a new Special Secretary, the Home Ministry today clarified that present incumbent M L Kumawat, who is also Director General of BSF, has been given a three-month extension till January 31, 2009.

Mr Kumawat has been granted extension of three months from November 1 and he would hold the dual charge till a new Special Secretary (Internal Security) was appointed, official sources said here.

Mr Kumawat was earlier promoted as Director General of the Border Security Force and since then he has been holding dual charge.

This clarification would set to rest media speculations that the Centre was considering appointing Meghalaya DGP Bijan K Dey Swian as Special Secretary (Internal Security).
