"Incredible India" shows were very successful, Tourism Ministry

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) The Ministry of Tourism today clarified that Incredible India road shows that were planned in Russia and Central Asia Republic in August and September had been postponed in deference to the austerity measures announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

In a release, the Ministry however denied the reports that all future Incredible India Road shows abroad had been cancelled by the PMO. It said that the proposal for the road shows was not sent for clearance to any other ministry,including the Prime Minister's Office.

However, there was no change in holding of these shows in Russia in 2009 which was also being observed as the "Year of India in Russia" during which a series of India related events would be organised.

The Ministry also clarified that promotional events and activities in the overseas tourist generating markets were continuing as scheduled and no event had been cancelled by the PMO to date.
