GMR Energy defers plan to shift power plant to Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) GMR Energy Ltd (GEL), which has a 220 MW power plant in Mangalore, has deferred its plan of relocating the barge-mounted power plant to Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

Now the company, the wholly-owned arm of GMR Infrastructure Ltd, proposed to operate the plant from existing location on merchant basis and accordingly, the plant has started generation, a statement said.

At present, it is supplying power to Rajasthan State Electricity Board and is negotiating with various other companies for supply of power on merchant basis.
