Court orders probe against Tamang for laundering govt funds
Darjeeling, Nov 12 (UNI) Chief Judicial Magistrate of Darjeeling court U K Nandy today directed town's sadar police station to investigate against ABGL leader Madan Tamang into an alleged defalcation of government funds, meant for ''Sarbyashikha Avijan'' in the hills two years ago.
The CJM's order came following a criminal petition filed by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's secretary Roshan Giri under 420/406 of the IPC, according to assistant public prosecutor Gobin Chettri.
The prime accused, the deputy magistrate of Darjeeling Lakpha Rinchen was evading arrest since the defalcation of over Rs 5.5 crore was detected in 2006.
The petition of Giri alleged that Tamang, who was then leader of People's Democratic Front, a common platform of all oppostion parties, was allegedly involved in the crime.
