Chennai, Nov 12 (UNI) In a significant development, senior BJP leader and party's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani today called on Tamil superstar Rajnikant.
The meeting, held at the actor's Poes Garden residence, lasted for 35 minutes.
When contacted by UNI, sources close to Rajnikant described the meeting as an ''very exclusive, informal meeting''. ''We have nothing to share with the media,'' he said.
Mr Advani was accompanied by senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, Party National Secretary S Thirunavukkarasar, BJP Tamil Nadu unit President L Ganesan and well known satirist and political analyst Cho Ramaswamy.
Mr Advani and Rajnikant discussed the prevailing political situation, according to another source.
Rajnikant's residence is situated just a hand-shaking distance from AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa's residence.
Meanwhile, rumours were afloat that Mr Advani might call on Ms Jayalalithaa, who has been recovering after a toe injury, she had suffered recently.
However, the AIADMK sources said no such meeting was planned.
Mr Advani is on a brief visit to the city to participate in a function got up for the release of Tamil translation of his autobiography ''My life, my country''.
Recently Rajnikant had ruled out his entry in politics and said no one could compel him to do so.
While addressing the members of his fans' association, the Tamil superstar said he was busy shooting for his new film ''Endhiran'' and that ''if an order comes from God'', he would take the plunge and no one could stop him from doing so.
