5 dead, 17 injured in road accident
Burdwan, Nov 12 (UNI) At least five people were killed and 17 others seriously injured today when the tractor they were travelling in collided head on with a truck at Thatrigram village of this district.
Official sources said a group of Trinamool Congress supporters was coming to Burdwan from Kalna to attend party supremo Mamata Banerjee's public meeting scheduled here this evening when the accident occurred, killing four people on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital where another person succumbed to his injuries. The condition of 17 other injured people was stated to be serious, the sources added.
