Lucknow, Nov 11 (UNI) Castigating the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh for keeping 'anti-farmer' demeanour, the Samajwadi Party (SP) said delay in commence of crushing work at sugar mills has now derailed the sowing of wheat.
The state government had committed the start of crushing season by October 15 last, but sadly even after the completion of one month nothing concerete has happened yet, Leader of the Opposition in UP assembly and senior SP leader Ahmad Hassan said here.
''The crushing process was still at a halt in the sugar mills at the Basti division and Bijjnore district along with several others..the standing sugarcane was now posing a delay in wheat sowing,'' he charged.
The Opposition leader further said while, on one hand farmers were yet to receive their arrears from the mill runners, the shortage of DAP and manure was another problem for them. On top of it, the anti-farmer attitude of the state government was making things unbearable,'' Mr Hassan added.
