LS Speaker accepts 5 JD(U) MPs resignations
New Delhi, Nov 11: Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Tuesday, Nov 11 accepted the resignation of five JD(U) MPs, who had resigned in protest against the ongoing attacks on the North Indians in Maharashtra. JD(U) Parliamenty Party leader Prabhunath Singh made the announcement after meeting Mr Chatterjee at his residence, along with four of the five JD(U) MPs. Mr Chatterjee had invited them over for talks. The fifth MP, George Fernandes, was unable to attend the meeting as he was unwell.
In the meeting, the Speaker requested them not to resign. In a lighter vein he also said they would be missed in the House. Later, he accepted their resignation.
