Imphal, Nov 11 (UNI) The members of the All India Postal Extra Departmental Employees Union (AIPEDEU), Manipur division, today burnt a copy of the Nataraj Murthi Commission report in front of the Imphal post office.

The Nataraj Murthi report was rejected by the AIPEDEU members, alleging that it was totally retrograde, negative and damaging.

The Committee has recommended virtually abolishing the posts of stamp vendors and abolition of some other offices.

''All existing offices should be taken on distances, population and income basis. The offices not meeting the requirements should be abolished,'' it was recommended.

The Committee has summarily rejected the demands of HRA, CCA, special duty allowance, hill allowance or any other allowance except DA.

As a part of the stir, meetings will be organised from November 20 to 26 and indefinite strike will be launched in December, it was stated.

The recommendations will affect three lakh postal employees of the country.

Before announcement of the Sixth Pay Commission report several requests were made to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the concerned authorities for making justified and logical recommendations in favour of the employees.

Dr Th.Meinya Singh, MP from Manipur, and MP Gurudas Das Gupta had also written to the Prime Minister about the matter, however, nothing materialised, the union members said.
