Muslim girls to get scholarships ranging Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 11 (UNI) Muslim girls in Kerala will get scholarships ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 for higher education on the basis of the Sachar Committee recommendations.

As per a state government order issued today, Rs 3,000 would be given for graduate, Rs 4,000 for post-graduate and Rs 5,000 for professional courses.

The Government had appointed Local Self-Government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kuttty to study the panel's recommendations and the state cabinet had decided to provide scholarships to 5,000 Muslim girls on the basis of the Minister's report.

Eligible girls would be selected on the basis of marks and parents' income, the order said.
