Host of events for Navy Day on Dec 4
Kochi, Nov 11 (UNI) The Southern Naval Command here is all set to celebrate the Navy Day on December 4 with the theme '' Goodwill Across the Oceans for Peace and Stability,'' signifying the Navy's role as an ambassador of the country for peace and friendship as well as stability in the region.
Addressing a press conference here today, Commodore S K Jha said as part of the celebrations and to strengthen the integration of far flung islands of the country, the Navy would be conducting medical camps on three islands -- Kadmat, Amini and Agati of the Lakshadweep archipelago from November 16 to 18.
The Navy will also organise a separate camp at Ezhimala, the site of new Naval Academy on November 30.
It would also provide an opportunity for the public to see its prized assets -- the naval ships-- from November 20 to 23, Commodore Jha said.
On the Navy Day, there would be air display by Sagar Pawan, the aerobatics team of the Indian Navy, followed by the solemn Beating the Retreat ceremony.
The Navy under the aegis of Ernakulam District Football Association would conduct a football tournament from November 22 to 30, he said.
