Bills for establishing two more universities in Meghalaya

Shillong, Nov 11 (UNI) The Meghalaya government has tabled two bills in the state Assembly for establishing University of Science and Technology and Techno Global University.

The two bills were introduced by Higher and Technical Education Minister Manas Chaudhuri.

The University of Science and Technology was to establish and incorporate a university in the state with emphasis on providing high quality and industry relevant education in the areas of engineering, management, applied life, physical sciences and physical education and sports sciences, media and communication technology, pharmaceutical sciences, design and architecture, agriculture and food processing sciences, medical and health sciences and other related areas of science and technology.

The university would also provide research, advancement and dissemination of knowledge sponsored by Education Research and Development Foundation (ERDF), Guwahati.

The Techno Global University was to establish a university that would cover physical sciences, finance and accounting, commerce, humanities, language and communication, applied and performing arts, education and other fields to be sponsored by the Techno India, Kolkata.
