AP Govt neglecting public transport: Lok Satta
Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) The Lok Satta party today said the Andhra Pradesh Government was neglecting public transport by emasculating the Road Transport Corporation contrary to its election promises.
Talking to newspersons here, he said party's state working committee members Bodepudi Satyanarayana and P Bhaskar Rao claimed that the Government, far from strengthening RTC with the acquisition of new buses, expansion and improvement of its services, was washing its hands of its responsibility by permitting private buses to ply on nationalised routes.
They pleaded for an integrated public transport system, which would help reduce the number of private vehicles, cut down fuel consumption and minimise pollution. It would comprise expansion of RTC services, introduction of a rapid bus transportation system and their integration with the MMTS.
