AP CM introduces online payment for minority students

Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) Minority community students need not henceforth run from pillar to post, thanks to the online payment facility introduced by the Andhra Pradesh Government today in collaboration with banks today.

Browsing the Internet on a laptop, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy inaugurated the facility here to mark the birth anniversary of noted freedom fighter and country's first Education Minister Moulana Abul Kalam Azad.

The new facility would benefit over 7.71 lakh minority students in getting their post-matric scholarship and fee reimbursement directly getting credited to their bank account.

Amidst huge applause, the Chief Minister pointed out that his Government had allocated this year Rs 208.76 crore to enable minority students puruse higher education, includng medicine and engineering.

He noted with satisfaction that the Congress Government had introduced reservation for minorities in education and government jobs overcoming all legal hurdles.
