Soldier runs amok, injures self, colleague in Jammu
Jammu, Nov 10 (UNI) Two Army soldiers were wounded critically in firing after one of them trained a gun on himself in a bid to commit suicide while the other attempted to rescue him at Arnia sector here today, official sources said.
A soldier , identified as Lance Naik Kulbir Singh of 157 TA Battalion, allegedly attempted to commit suicide at his place of posting at Katar Nakka in the bordering Arnia sector. ''While he opened the burst, his colleague Sepy Shamsher Singh jumped in to save him. Both were wounded in the incident and hospitalised in the Military Hospital Jammu,'' official spokesman told UNI.
However, sources revealed that L/Nk Kulbir Singh, who was leading men at Katar Nakka, was under depression due to an on going inquiry, instituted against him after one weapon under his command reportedly got misplaced.
Army has constituted a Court of Inquiry (CoI) to probe into the incident.
