Minister warns dealers of stern action

Vijayawada, Nov 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Kasu Krishna Reddy today warned the gas dealers in the state of stern action against them if they were found commiting irregularities in distributing gas to the consumers.

Talking to newspersons here he said the Government would book criminal cases against the erring dealers.

He said Government would not hesitate to take action if they were found selling super fine rice at more than Rs 20 a kg in the open market.

Stating that the the Congress-ruled Government was commited to the welfare of SCs, STs, OBCs and minority community he said keeping their interests in mind the government had introduced Rs two-a-kg rice scheme in the state.

He said so far 1.85 crore white cards and 38 lakh pink cards had been distributed among the people and 3.17 lakh metric tonnes of rice had been distributed under the Rs two-a-kg rice scheme.

A strict vigil was being maintained during the distribution of gas cylinders, he said adding there were 1.5 crore gas connections in the state, of which 36 lakh were single cylinders, 34 lakh double cylinders and the rest under deepam scheme.

The government had decided to issue 2.85 lakh fresh gas connections in the state and the gas companies had formally agreed to the proposal, he added.
