Member of 'Abhinav Bharat' held

Mumbai, Nov 10: An active member of Abhinav Bharat was arrested by city police from Dadar railway station in Central Mumbai for allegedly possessing arms and ammunition.

Police here on Monday, Nov 10 said Sudhakar Chaturvedi was arrested on November four from the Dadar railway station by the sleuths of Matunga police station for possessing one pistol and three live catridges.

During interrogation, he admitted that he was an active member of 'Abhinav Bharat', a radical Hindu outfit. Some members of this organisation including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, serving Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit and others were arrested for their alleged involvement in the Malegaon blast on September 29, in which six people were killed and several others injured.

Chaturvedi was remanded to police custody till November 14 by the Metropolitan court at Kurla.

Police today moved an application in the court seeking permission for conducting scientific tests, including narco, on the arrested accused, the sources added.
