IGNOU recommends Sanat for fellowship
Shillong, Nov 10 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has written a letter to the Wee Kim Wee School of Copmmunication and Information, Nanyang Techonological University, Singapore, recommending Mr Sanat Chakraborty's name for consideration for its Asian Journalism Fellowship.
In a statement issued here today, the pro-Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, Delhi, Prof Omprakash Mishra said Mr Chakrborty, editor of the 'Grassroots Option' here, was renowned for his stewardship of the paper.
''This was the first serious attempt to dispassionately analyse the policy issues impacting environment and development in the North East region of India,'' he said.
''His selection for the felloship would be of benefit to all his readers and admirers as he can bring the best of the scholarship and training to a large number of people,'' Mr Mishra mentioned in the letter.
