ATS to charge Lt Purohit under MCOCA

Mumbai, Nov 10: Days after serving Indian Army officer Lt Col Shrikant Purohit was arrested for conspiring in the Malegaon blasts, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is now considering pressing charges on him under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Sources also say that the ATS' Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar will be seeking extension of police custody for Sameer Kulkarni along with four other men when they are produced before a Nashik court on Monday. Kulkarni is the key accused and a founder member of the radical rightwing outfit Abhinav Bharat.
