57-yr-old dies after jumping before Metro train
New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) A 57-year-old former bank employee allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of the Metro train in Janakpuri area of West Delhi this afternoon.
Rail services on Line-3 (Dwarka to Indrapratha) were affected for some time following the 1212hrs incident, said the Delhi Metro.
''He has been identified as Devendra Kr Gupta, a former bank employee who retired some time back,'' said its spokesman Anuj Dayal.
A resident of Vikaspuri, he was suffering from depression, he added.
Devendra allegedly jumped in front of the train, just as it was approaching the platform at Janak Puri West Metro station.
''The train operator of the train applied emergency brakes immediately but the train ran over the man before stopping.'' Train operations were affected for 13 minutes in view of the incident. Normal operations resumed at 1225 hrs, the Delhi Metro added.
