UP: Boy dies after falling into borewell

Luckow, Nov 9: In a tragic incident a nine-year-old boy, Puneet was brought out dead on Sunday, Nov 9 after he fell in a 30 feet deep open borewell in Kanauj district on Saturday, Nov 8. Police said all efforts to rescue Puneet failed and he was brought out dead this morning after surviving for about several hours inside the borewell.

Puneet fell into the open borewell in Banwar Gara village in Kannauj while playing. He could not cry out for help as he had a speaking disability, which led to a delay in rescue operations.

District authorities said Puneet, son of a farmer, could not be saved as the rescue operation was delayed because the villagers noticed the accident much late.

Meanwhile, the district authorities have announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to Puneet's family while action would be taken against the guilty farmer who had left the borewell open after taking out the pump.
