BJP replaces Kalpana Jain with Kamal in Gandhi Nagar

New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) The BJP replaced its candidate Kalpana Jain in Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency with Kamal Jain today.

Announcing the change, BJP Delhi chief Harshwardhan explained the reason. "The popular sentiment prevailing in Gandhi Nagar is to defeat Congress candidate and Education Minister in Sheila Government Arvinder Singh Lovely. So we decided to put up a better candidate against him,".

''BJP workers in Gandhi Nagar were into a rebellion mode against the nominated candidate, Kalpana Jain. The situation forced the party high command to re-think its choice,'' admitted Mr Harshwardhan. The sheer anger of the ground-level worker in the constituency seems to have taken the party high command by surprise.

However, it invited him a barrage of criticism from the media persons calling the move as anti-woman. When asked if the replacement of a woman might have been by a woman only, the BJP chief curtly said, "we had no option".
