Hundreds wish Advani as he turns 80

New Delhi, Nov 8: BJP president Rajnath Singh led the party in wishing Leader of Opposition L K Advani ''many, many happy returns of the day'' as the political stalwart turned 80 today.

Former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, party president Venkaiah Naidu, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and general secretary Arun Jaitley were among hundreds of workers, well wishers and friends who personally greeted Mr Advani at his Prithviraj Road residence since morning.

Among others who greeted Mr Advani were former ministers Jaswant Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Uttaranchal chief minister B C Khanduri and JD(U) president Sharad Yadav.

All wished him a long life and many more years of people's service, according to a party source.

Meanwhile, the party today also launched a portal on the veteran BJP leader.

The portal -- www.lkadvani -- was unveiled by Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha, former Assam and Jammu and Kashmir Governor, at the party's Asoka Road headquarters here.

The portal, available in English and Hindi, provides details on Mr Advani's long and illustrious political career spanning over six decades.
