Asst. loco pilot injured by air rifle pellet

Kochi, Nov 8 (UNI) The assistant loco pilot of the Mumbai-bound Jayanti Janata Express was injured in the head when a pellet, suspected to have been fired by an air rifle, hit him as the train halted at the Ernakulam Town station today.

Railway Police sources said assistant loco pilot C N Santosh Kumar had received minor injuries in the back of his head and had been admitted to a private hospital here for observation.

No one had been taken into custody yet in connection with the incident, police said.

Santosh Kumar had just alighted from the train when the pellet hit him. The pellet was later found in the train.

The train resumed its onward journey after an hour's delay.
