Absconding former Agri Cooperative Bank Secretary arrested
Kancheepuram, Nov 8 (UNI) Kancheepuram police have arrested former secretary of a primary agricultural cooperative bank who had been absconding for two years in a case of embezzlement of Rs 20 lakh.
A three- member police team apprehended Danasekharan, the former secretary of the bank in Pudur in Kancheepuram district, at Chennai last night, acting on information. He was produced in a local court in Chengalpattu.
He was remanded in police custody for 15 days and lodged in Puzhal central prison in Chennai.
Danasekharan, who had served as the secretary of the bank from 1991 to 2001 was guilty of not returning the loans repaid to the bank by borrowers. The embezzlement by Danasekharan was detected by the Sub Register of the bank Mr Nadanasbhapathi. The latter lodged a complaint to the Crime Branch police dealing with such cases.
The Crime Branch police registered a case and spread a dragnet to apprehend Danasekharan who went into hiding.
