Ferozepur, Nov 7 (UNI) The Special Narcotics Cell of the Punjab Police seized 11 kg heroin alongwith a cache of arms and ammunation from a border village in this district this morning.

Besides the heroin, the weapons seized included two AK-47 rifles alongwith magazines, two mausers and some ammunation. The estimated worth of the drug in the international market is Rs 55 crore.

Police sources here said that one person was taken into custody and later arrested under the NDPS Act, Arms Act and other sections of the IPC.

The sources said that the seizure was made on the interrogation of Sukhjinder Singh alias Shinda, an Akali Sarpanch of Khane-ke-Ahel village in this district and his colleague, Kuldip Singh of Kamalwala village, both of whom were arrested by the Narcotics Cell in Amritsar district with 14 kg heroin yesterday.

These two drug smugglers had contacts with the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) headed by the Pakistan based, Ranjit Singh Neeta.

Sources said that the weapons had been sent by Neeta from across the border.

However the sources did not disclose the motive behind the weapons being sent into India. The police is likely to disclose details sometime tomorrow after further interrogation of the three arrested persons.
