Vedantti receives life threat, FIR lodged

Ayodhya, Nov 7 (UNI) An FIR was today registered under section 506 of the IPC here after senior Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas member and former BJP MP Dr Ram Vilas Vedantti allegedly received a threat from the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI-Meerut).

Superintendent of Police (city) Gyaneshwar Tiwari said Mr Vedantti yesterday received the warning letter, which stated SIMI-Meerut as the sender's name.

The letter was composed not very neatly and carried the stamp of Ayodhya post office.

A case has, meanwhile, been registered and security provided to the former BJP MP, Mr Tiwari informed.

Mr Vedantti had received a similar warning letter, which was scribbled in Urdu language, six years ago too.

Police was investigating the matter, the SP added.
