Reservation is meant for only those who are assetless: Professor
Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) Opining that reservation, guaranteed in the Indian Constitution, was meant for those who were asset less no others should misuse it, JNU Professor Dipankar Gupta said today.
Addressing a seminar at IIMB here he said strong pressure is being put up to extend the Reservation to Private Sector in the country.
While continuation of reservation system in public sector Professor Gupta favored for open the door policy of accommodating those who are not meritorious but come from different groups and backgrounds in the society.
"It is judicious and good thing to see, meritorious candidates mix around with some other backgrounds," he said.
Stating that the caste was so surcharged with identity Professor criticised that Governments are keen on focusing on reservation rather than anti-poverty programmes.
