Punjab Cong gives 'wake up' call to its leaders

Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) A meeting of the Congress MLA's and former legislatures of Punjab was held here today to chalk out the party strategy for the coming Parliamentary elections.

The meeting presided over by Punjab Pradesh Congress Commitee (PPCC) chief Mohinder Singh Kaypee decided to constitute booth level committees in each Assembly constituency of the state.

The meeting decided to set up primary committees in each polling booth on the recommendations of the MLA's of the concerned constituency and the constituency incharge. These committees will be responsible for coordinating with the officials of election department for updating of electoral rolls as per directions of the Election Commission of India.

Mr Kaypee called upon the party leaders to activate the party workers for the next Lok Sabha polls. He told them to educate the masses about the policies and programmes of the UPA government. He also told the party leaders to bring before the public the failures of the SAD-BJP government.

Meanwhile the Leader of the Opposition Leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has held Punjab government responsible for the present financial crisis engulfing the state. She claimed that the SAD-BJP government had failed on every front.

In a statement issued here, Mrs Bhattal further said that the state government was already facing an acute financial crisis and in the coming months it would not have even a penny to pay salaries to its employees. She claimed that no developmental work was taking place in the state.

She claimed that the Congress would definately win all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, considering the 'non performance' of the SAD-BJP government.
