LS demands inquiry into payment irregularities on land
Hyderabad, Nov 7 (UNI) The Lok Satta party today demanded an inquiry into the irregularities in payment of compensation for land acquired for the Jindal Aluminium factory, action against the guilty and justice to displaced farmers.
The party alleged that some peoples' representatives in collusion with officials had drawn compensation in the names of benami farmers and caused financial loss to the government worth Rs 10 crore of the Rs 22.44 crore paid as compensation, a release here said, adding that while some fake landholders managed to get huge compensation, some genuine farmers were paid only nominal or nil compensation.
Party General Secretary DVVS Varma and spokesman B Krishna Reddy said a five-member committee, headed by party's Vizianagaram unit head Bhisetty Babji, had conducted an inquiry and submitted a report to party president Jayaprakash Narayan, who had forwarded the report to Chief Minister Y S Rajashekara Reddy on September 8 but no action was taken.
