'Jhiri Mela' from Nov 13 in Jammu, arrangements reviewed
Jammu, Nov 7 (UNI) In a bid to make annual 'Jhiri Mela' more impressive and attractive, all arrangements were reviewed by the authorities prior to the fair (mela) beginning from November 13 at village Jhiri on city outskirts.
Various agencies and departments have been instructed by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mandeep K Bhandari to make all preparations for thousands of visitors participating in a week-long festival, being organised every year having religious historical background.
''All roads leading to the Baba Jittoo temple situated at Jhiri, will be renovated while sanitation units will be made functional and another 100 temporary units will also be constructed,'' official sources said.
However, the Power Department has been directed to ensure regular electricity supply during the 'mela' while flood lights would also be installed around the temple.
Besides, adequate water supply would also be made available in and around the temple for the devotees to avoid inconvenience while special buses would ply from Maulana Azad Stadium to Jhiri.
''The departments including CAPD, forest, and health have also been engaged for successful conduct of week-long fair as lakhs of devotees from within and outside the state enthusiastically visit the fair,'' official sources added.
Theatre skits depicting the life history of 'Baba Jittoo' would also be staged on the occasion while additional troops from both state police and para-military forces would also be deployed as part of tight security arrangements for an incident free festival, they asserted.
