Govt sets up body to handle impact of global financial crisis

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has approved constitution of a committee of officers to consider issues raised by industry on the current global financial crisis and its impact on India.

Headed by finance secretary, secretaries of commerce, department of industrial policy and promotion and of planning commission are its members, the Finance Ministry said here today.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Prime Minister had set up an apex group headed by him to coordinate the government's response to various issues raised by industry from time to time.

The formation of two panels came after Dr Singh held an interactive session with top honchos of industry on Monday to get their feedback on tackling the impact of global financial crisis on India's economy.
