Four Maoists arrested in Malkangiri
Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 (UNI) Acting on a tip off, the Special Operation Group(SOG) of Orissa Police today arrested four Maoists during an intensive combing operation at Malgundi, close to MV79 village in Malkangiri district.
Police said all the four Maoists, three of whom are active women cadre, belonged to a 'dalam' in Telengana in Andhra Pradesh and were involved in as many as 40 crimes.
The SOG recovered landmines, literature and some paper cuttings from their possession.
The group was also involved in the June 29 Alampeka ambush inside the Chitrakonda reservoir, in which 36 Greyhound jawans of Andhra Pradesh were killed.
Outgoing Superintendent of Police of Malkangiri S P Gojbhiey said the four rebels were also involved in the MV126 blasts and landmine explosion in Deogarh district in Western Orissa.
They were produced before a local court in Malkangiri and later sent to jail custody.
