Jammu, Nov 7: Nomination papers of nine candidates for four Rajouri Assembly constituencies were rejected during scrutiny, leaving behind 65 candidates in the electoral fray for the Nov 23 polls in the bordering district. Tomorrow is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers. A total 74 candidates, including rebels of the National Conference, Congress and BJP, had filed nomination papers for Darhal, Rajouri, Nowshera and Kalakote Assembly seats of the district.

While five nominations were rejected in Rajouri segment, two each in Darhal and Nowshera last evening, official sources told UNI.

All 16 nomination papers filed in Kalakote were, however, found valid, the sources added.

With the scrutiny of nomination papers, 24 candidates have been left in fray for the Rajouri seat, followed by 13 in Darhal and 12 in Nowshera Assembly constituencies.
