VMPL to invest Rs 34.25 crore in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 6 (UNI) Kolkata based Vedanta Medicare Pvt Ltd (VMPL) has decided to invest Rs 34.25 crore in Tripura for manufacturing parental drugs and injections, which would start production by 2010.

Minister for Development of Northeast Region (DoNER) Mani Shankar Aiyar would lay the foundation stone of the medicine manufacturing unit at Bodjungnagar industrial estate on the outskirt of Agartala tomorrow. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his other cabinet colleagues will also grace the occasion.

VMPL officials said this unit would be the first of such kind in the Northeast.

''We are planning to invest more in the region not only in medicine production but also for other infrastructure development and herbal goods fabrication as the climate of the state was found suitable for such industries, VMPL officials added.
