Bengal: 7 students arrested in BSEU violence
Howrah, Nov 6: Trouble erupted in the Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU) on Thursday, Nov 6 with the arrest of seven students. Police said students owing allegiance to the CPI(M) backed Students Federation of India(SFI) and Independent Consolidation(IC) fought a pitched battle last night following a scuffle between them during a match two days ago.
This morning IC students began protesting as all their seven compatriots were taken into custody for indulging in violence in the campus.
The RAF and police were deployed had been deployed to control the situation.
