Sex scam: Barjinder to appear before CBI special judge

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed petitioner Berjinder Singh, son of a senior ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader who is an accused in Moga sex scam, to appear before the CBI special judge at Patiala tomorrow.

The special judge will decide about the issue of his custody to the CBI.

Berjinder Singh is the son of SAD leader and former minister Tota Singh.

Justice A N Jindal, while issuing these directions, has reserved the verdict on the regular bail plea of Barjinder Singh to be pronounced on November 11.

Before this, the CBI standing counsel Anmol Rattan Sidhu submitted that the custodial interrogation of the accused was essential as certain persons told the investigating agency that the accused was involved in extortion of money while threatening to implicate them in sex scandal. He even prayed for grant of deemed custody as the petitioner was present in the court.

The CBI has conducted the probe into Moga sex scam on the orders of the high court.
